The Opportunity
This is a rare opportunity to join Litchfield Council's Executive Leadership Team in a full-time fixed-term capacity, leading a diverse and influential portfolio across Governance and Community. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will play a critical role in driving strategic outcomes, strengthening organisational performance, and enhancing the connection between Council and the community.

You will take ownership of a broad and high-impact portfolio, including:

  • Governance & Risk
  • Communications
  • Community and Development
  • Regulatory Services
  • Library Services

This role goes beyond operational leadership. You will be a trusted advisor to the CEO and Council, contributing to strategic planning, governance, policy development, and decision-making at the highest level, while ensuring responsive and community-focused service delivery.

About You
You are a strategic and community-minded executive leader who thrives in complex and politically aware environments. You bring a contemporary leadership style, strong governance capability, and a genuine passion for delivering outcomes that positively impact the community.

You will demonstrate:

  • Proven senior leadership experience, ideally within local government or a multi-functional service environment
  • Strong governance, strategic planning, and policy implementation capability
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams across diverse service areas
  • Exceptional judgement and the ability to manage complex, sensitive, and politically charged matters
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management skills
  • The ability to influence, collaborate, and build trust at CEO, Council, and community level
  • A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service delivery

Knowledge of the NT local government legislation and governance frameworks will be required, along with relevant tertiary qualifications and/or senior management experience in a related discipline.
